Tropical Storm Agatha Impacts to Guatemalan Water Systems
In early June, tropical storm Agatha hit parts of Central America including Guatemala where IRWA’s partner organization Agua Para la Salud supports the indigenous communities in the departments of Solola and Quiche. Community water systems, some just recently completed, were substantially damaged rendering many of them non-functional. The storm produced in excess of 48 hours of continuous torrential rain which caused large volumes of water to collect and run violently down ravines and rivers.
